To me Minnesingers is the ultimate collaboration. This large group of people with one goal, to make beautiful music. I have looked up to the Minnesingers since I was young, as these powerful voices filling the halls of the Whaling Church, and I am still in awe that I get to be one of those voices now. I just love the idea that everyone in the group is responsible for their part, and only with all the parts does the music sound so bright and beautiful.

For the longest time I’ve been looking forward to all the new and exciting experiences I would get access to at the high school and now I have the honor of being a part of the Minnesingers. I hope I can learn a lot from this opportunity and that it will open many doors for me by the time I graduate. I also am so excited to get to travel to Europe with all my Minnesinger friends.

I come from a family of singers, but most of my friends don’t sing and don’t understand how much I love doing it, which has always been a struggle for me. Being in Minnesingers, however, surrounded by people who love to sing as much as I do, has been one of the most exciting experiences of my life. All of the people involved in Minnesingers have made me feel so incredibly welcome in a place that was initially very daunting and scary for me. I am looking forward to all of the work that comes with being a part of Minnesingers, because I know it will help me grow as a performer, singer and as a human being.

This will be my first year in Minnesingers, but from just the first rehearsal I know it’s going to be a great fit. Since I’ve moved to the island, I have had a few chances to work with the Minnesingers, mostly through the children’s chorus, and I always admired their abilities to work cohesively and pick up new music easily. I hope to improve my group singing skills, and to find some new friends in this welcoming group.
